Have you ever lived in a place where there was a drought ? A drought being a place of dryness. A drought being a place of hopelessness. I believe some times we are in those places because God wants to show us how dependent we must be on Him. It reminds me of Ezekiel 37, the valley of dry bones.

The Lord asked Ezekiel…..He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “O Sovereign Lord, you alone know. Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’ “So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them. Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’ ” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet–a vast army.

This chapter not only talks about people that have NO Hope and are dry spiritually and emotionally…  but it gives us hope to understand that there are times we must speak life to our situation.  When we are facing trying times and we have NO hope……just remember God wants us to Speak Life To our Dry Bones so that he can raise us up to be a Mighty Army reflecting the Glory of Lord.

Last week was the Alabama Church of God Camp Meeting, which was held at Metro COG. I had a great time catching up with some friends that I don’t get to see enough. Camp Meeting is a great time to first and formost be renewed and secondly and time to fellowship and network. We had this year as the evening speakers….Tommy Bates, Tim Hill, and Sean Teal. Each night was exceptional. My wife and myself got to be part of leading worship each night. It was so fun!!!! On Friday night I got to actually lead Worship…what a great time. There is so much talent in Alabama and just to be part is humbling. This year there were several musical guest….Jason Crabb, which did a great job as usual. Jason is very gifted with a great humble spirit. Also someone I had never met before …Curtis and Charmaine Bridgeman. All I can say about them is WOW. They are two of the most real people I have ever met. Amazing singers and worshippers. Finally the group Austin Bridges was there on Friday night. You can hear there music on the radio. If you do not have any of these three groups you need to get there cd’s.

Today has been a crazy day….Started out with my girls singing at the Jefferson County Board of Education meeting this morning. They did a great job, best I have heard them sing.  I got to meet alot of the Administration for Jefco. The meeting started out with a devotion on “Your Attitude” …wow I think I need to get the notes and teach it to myself every week.  It was pretty neat seeing one of my former high school teachers today. I had not seen him in 20 plus years. The cool thing was that he still remembered me from way back then.

Then off to the office I went. We are in the process of having a website designed. Alot of work and thought has to go into these things. We are about 10 days away from having it up so be on the look out for www.sumitonministries.com it’s going to look good.

Tonight was Choir rehearsal…I love rehearsal nights. We are working on a few songs and trying to polish them up real nice so we can do them in a couple of weeks.

Following rehearsal tonight I made my first attemp to actually record a rehearsal track for a Mass Choir that will be singing at a Campmeeting in June. Man is it hard work. I have now come to realize that the people that sing in the studio are really GREAT singers. They have perfect pitch. I don’t know how they do it. I want in on the secret if there is any.

The only life changing  word I can leave you tonight comes from a song we started tonight entitled “God is still Able”. There is a line in the song that says….”There Is No Miracle where there is no need.”  Pretty awesome word for us all to chew on.

My kids are having a talent show this week at school. They auditioned to the music teacher and a few other teachers that are on the approval committee and they were blown away. They sent my girls to the principal and asked her to approve them. Well I get to the school and the principal meets me in the parking lot just raving about how good my girls sing. Well the next day I arrive to the school to pick up the kids and the principal meets me in the parking lot once again….but this time she ask me to come to her office.  I was shocked at what happened next…..She proceeded to inform me that she talked with the Board of Education  directors about the talent of my girls and that they wanted them to come and perform at the next Board of Education meeting they are having which is Wednesday, May 13,2009.  This meeting will be with every Principal and Administrator in the Jefferson County school system. So my girls being age 11, 10 and 8 are going to sing a song by the Clark Sisters entitled “Blessed and Highly Favored” . The bible is very true and clear when it talks about God opening doors. We have told our kids for years that if they will take the gift that God has given them that He will use it as He wills. So I guess I’m saying this just to encourage someone out in webland to be patient and God will open doors that no man can shut.

Hey guys I am stepping into a new era in my life….I am gonna blog a little. We will see how long this last. Well if you want to stay up to date on what’s happening in my life stay tuned and see what’s up. Until next time.
